We wanted to provide you with some important news about our practices. Effective 06/29/2023 Great Lakes Family Dental Group in East Lansing will be joining together with Great Lakes Family Dental Group in Charlotte, 917 W. Lawrence, Charlotte, MI 48813. The East Lansing practice will relocate, and the Coolidge Road location will close.
Your continued care is our priority, and we are excited to join these two practices together to offer more comprehensive multi-specialty dental care to our patients.
Great Lakes Family Dental Group has a well-established group of practices that have built our reputation on a foundation of trust, comfort, and understanding. All Great Lakes locations share the commitment to a patient-first approach exhibited by joining these practices together to provide patients with access to additional doctors, more appointment availability, specialists, and newer technology. Both the Lansing and Charlotte locations are Great Lakes Family Dental Group practices and are all 42 North Dental-supported practices. This means the experience will be seamless for patients with records and x-rays immediately available with no lapse in treatment. Patients can simply arrive in the new location without needing to transfer records. All offices provide the highest level of dental care and patient experience.
The Great Lakes Charlotte location is located just over 30 minutes away conveniently near the W Lawrence Highway. There is no additional action required on your part. At your next appointment, you simply need to show up at the new location at 917 W. Lawrence and we will show you around the new space and introduce you to the dental team.

Is the East Lansing location still open?
Patients can still call Great Lakes East Lansing for questions and appointments while patients will receive care at Great Lakes Charlotte. Patients will no longer be seen at the 3315 Coolidge Road location, which will be closed. East Lansing has joined the Charlotte location and will remain a part of the Great Lakes family. The dental care team is now ready to treat you at the Charlotte location.
I’d like to have my medical records transferred to a new dentist that’s not a 42 North Dental supported practice. What do I need to do?
At any time if you need to transfer your records simply call our office directly and a patient care representative will walk you through the process requesting a records release. There will be no charge for this service. You can also be assured that we keep all records securely stored at Great Lakes Charlotte for 8 years as required by law and you can request them at any time. There is no immediate rush or concern.
What does this change mean for a current East Lansing patient?
You’ll visit Great Lakes’ location in Charlotte for your dental care, where you can continue having access to specialists and expanded hours, including weekends and evenings. Your records, x-rays, and treatment plans will be available at Great Lakes’ Charlotte location. There’s no additional action you need to take.
Who will my doctor be now that I am being seen at the Charlotte Location?
We are happy to set up an appointment to meet Dr. Kala Mapes. Our team also includes Dr. Kishawn Kole-James, an Orthodontist. Read more about the excellent team on the Meet the Doctors Page. All doctors have been communicated with closely regarding patient treatment plans by the East Lansing doctors and dental team.
What if Great Lakes in Charlotte is not a convenient location for me?
